Formal bids are competitive sealed bids conducted in accordance to the Invitation for Bids (IFB), Request for Proposals (RFP) or Requests for Statements of Qualifications (RFSQ) processes prescribed in Title 3, Chapter 329 of the Columbus City Code.
IFBs are prepared for materials, supplies, equipment, construction, and general services contracts estimated to exceed $20,000.
RFPs and RFSQs are issued for professional services such as insurance, programming, consulting, and training for contracts exceeding $50,000. Notices of these formal bids are sent to registered vendors and are advertised for at least 7 days.
Request for Quotes are solicitations for items below these dollar thresholds. Notices are broadcast to registered vendors and bids are accepted online when logged into the site. Except in emergency cases, these items are posted at least for 24 hours.
